Mayor Mike’s rioting 101: Wrong lesson for NYC

The Issue: Mayor Bloomberg’s warning that jobless college graduates could start riots in the city.

I am stunned by Mayor Bloomberg suggesting the possibility of future riots in New York (“Get Ready for a Riot,” Sept. 17).

He wrongfully compared the United States to Egypt and what happened there.

Bloomberg has now planted a seed in young people’s minds as an excuse to riot.

It’s time for the mayor to ride his bike into the sunset.

It’s a little disingenuous for Bloomberg to pontificate that the current state of the economy can lead recent college grads to riot over the lack of job prospects, while still backing the Port Authority’s plan to raise the tolls on Hudson River crossings.

It’s no wonder so many borough residents are fleeing south.

Bloomberg has unwittingly given permission for European-style riots in New York City.

If I were a business owner in New York, I would ship my inventory out of state.

Is there any doubt left that Bloomberg is a liberal airhead?

Bloomberg may not be crying wolf this time. The climate in this country is far worse than what the media want to report.

Study the French Revolution: All the components in the United States warrant sending men to the streets.

Too much money is being spent on war, and the lower and middle classes are being pushed down while the upper class gets away with murder.

The Bastille was stormed and heads rolled. Bloomberg probably figures he will be found, even though he doesn’t live in Gracie Mansion.

Since Bloomberg has tried to turn New York into a European city with bike paths, pedestrian plazas and outdoor cafes, he should tell recent grads to live with their parents.

Many young people in Western Europe have to do so because of the outrageously high cost of living in these socialist paradises.
