‘Whit’ spread too thin

When TV suits make a decision that one person/idea/trend is the only person/idea/trend that matters, well, nothing else matters.

This season, that person/idea/trend is stand-up comic Whitney Cummings.

Maybe Cummings is stretched even thinner than her skinny-girl frame right now, because she’s got two sitcoms running at once, and both are such broad comedies, that they seem dated.

She co-created CBS’s “2 Broke Girls,” and tonight, she’s starring in another show she created called “Whitney,” which NBC is promoting as their great (very white) hope for the fall. Problem is both series are hit-you-over-the-head until you laugh or else.

Whitney and live-in boyfriend Alex (Chris D’Elia) are (oh no!) not married, even though everyone wants them to be. Why?

They have the usual TV pack of incredibly irritating friends, one of whom wants to know whether having sex with the pregnant girl he picks up can be counted as a threesome. Eeeewww.
