Palestinians hold ‘state’ dinner downtown

Was it a premature celebration?

Members of the Palestinian delegation to the United Nations had a late-night feast of expensive wine and heaping platters of pasta at Cipriani Downtown almost on the eve of their controversial bid for membership in the international organization, sources told The Post. The officials entered the swank eatery on West Broadway in TriBeCa at about 11:30 p.m. Friday and were seated at the large table in the back.

The group of about 15 men were all in an upbeat and jovial mood as the United Nations is set to debate the resolution week.

Despite Washington’s last-minute diplomatic attempts to get the Palestinians to drop their bid, the officials remained hopeful for support.

“We are all praying that President Obama will help us,” one of the dinner attendees said. The men arrived just as the kitchen was closing, but management kept it open so they could order.

They watched as a bunch of gorgeous women in skin-tight dresses repeatedly passed by their table on the way to the bathroom, but none of the men in the delegation chatted up any of the lovelies.
