Girls soccer roundup: Sofer’s big second half powers RKA

“I have faith in her to makes sure that it wasn’t a close win, but a definitive win,” Krause said of Sofer.

The Governors (4-1-1) came into the game unbeaten and look rejuvenated after finishing fifth in the division last season. Janet Perez and Maria Pietes both scored for Clinton (5-1-1). Riverdale/Kingsbridge has finished behind first-place Bronx Science the last two years and the win put them solely in second place behind the Wolverines in 2011.

Bronx Science 7, Columbus 0: Gianna Finz scored three times and Isabella Pecorari tallied two scores for Bronx Science (5-0-0) in Bronx A. Miami Rahaman added a goal and three assists. Columbus is 1-3-0.

Forest Hills 4, Bryant 0: Lina Dominguez had a goal and an assist and Jackelin Brito added a goal and an assist for Forest Hills (4-1-1) in Queen A-VI. Elizabeth DiBartolo and Natalia Cayado each added a goal. Marcela Rueda chipped in an assist. Bryant is 1-4-0.

Preston 6, Sacred Heart 0: Madeline Giannini scored twice for Preston (3-0-1) in CHSAA Bronx/Westchester on Thursday. Kitty Lajqi, Sabrina D’Ancona, Danielle Kibler and Nicole Kibler each added goals.

Maria Regina 6, Cardinal Spellman 1: Taylor Addison scored the lone goal for Cardinal Spellman (3-3-0) in CHSAA Bronx/Westchester on Thursday.

Packer 8, UNIS 0: Shannon Rhodes scored four times and Chloe Wallack found the back of the net twice for Packer (6-1-1) in AAIS. Keegan Mendez and Lily Carruthers each added goals.

James Madison 4, Thomas Jefferson 0: Samantha Rodriguez scored twice and Samantha O’Brien added a goal and an assist for James Madison (4-0-0) in Brooklyn B-VII. Jasmine Fermin added a goal and Mercedes Diaz and Katherine Chirinos each had assists. Thomas Jefferson is 1-3-0.
