A former federal investigator was busted early Sunday morning in a drunken road rage incident were he fired four shots in the air as he chased after another vehicle over a parking spot, authorities said.
William Oldham, 57 of Brooklyn, was charged with attempted assault, reckless endangerment and driving while under the influence after he chased two men in a Mercedes over a parking space in Elmhurst at 2:30 a.m.
Oldham told officers that he was on his way to the Waterview restaurant in Long Island City when he got into an argument about a parking spot and “was shot at by four people for no reason” and “that is when I returned fire,” according to the criminal complaint.
Officers recovered a loaded Glock .9mm and a pistol that smelled of smoke and gunpowder residue from the driver’s seat of Oldham’s 2008 Honda.
The co-author of, “The Brotherhoods: The True Story of Two NYPD Detectives Who Murdered for the Mafia,” refused to take a breathalyzer when he was stopped on the corner of Broadway and Corona Avenue with bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol.
Oldham was held on $30,000 bond and will return to court on October 17.
