Things never come easy for Riverdale when Fieldston is on the other sideline.
That was certainly the case in their first meeting of the season. Fieldston got within a goal early in the second half, but host Riverdale was able to hold on for a 4-2 win in Ivy League girls soccer Monday.
“It was a tough game,” Falcons coach Orlando Osorio said. “But we were able to win.”
Hanna Kaeser, who Osorio said was impossible to bottle up, gave Fieldston (3-3-1) a 1-0 lead. Riverdale (8-0-0), ranked No. 2 in the city by The Post, responded by scoring the next three goals to take a 3-1 advantage into the half.
Sydney Hard tapped in a deflection on the box, Jackie Dworkin tallied a goal off a feed from Zoe Clark and Lindsey Picard scored on a pass from Rachel Copulsky. Chole Chasanoff got Fieldston within 3-2 in the 60th minute but nine minutes later Isabella Bertagna scored on a feed from Sam Light to seal the win.
