Girls soccer roundup: Balanced Riverdale tops rival Fieldston

Things never come easy for Riverdale when Fieldston is on the other sideline.

That was certainly the case in their first meeting of the season. Fieldston got within a goal early in the second half, but host Riverdale was able to hold on for a 4-2 win in Ivy League girls soccer Monday.

“It was a tough game,” Falcons coach Orlando Osorio said. “But we were able to win.”

Hanna Kaeser, who Osorio said was impossible to bottle up, gave Fieldston (3-3-1) a 1-0 lead. Riverdale (8-0-0), ranked No. 2 in the city by The Post, responded by scoring the next three goals to take a 3-1 advantage into the half.

Sydney Hard tapped in a deflection on the box, Jackie Dworkin tallied a goal off a feed from Zoe Clark and Lindsey Picard scored on a pass from Rachel Copulsky. Chole Chasanoff got Fieldston within 3-2 in the 60th minute but nine minutes later Isabella Bertagna scored on a feed from Sam Light to seal the win.

Poly Prep 2, Trinity 0: Clara Miles scored off a corner kick to open the scoring for Poly Prep (3-5-2) in the Ivy League. Annie Hurwitz kicked in a feed in the box from Sam Domurat for the other goal. Trinity is 0-5-1.

CHSAA

St. Joseph Hill 4, Fontbonne Hall 1: Victoria Chirico found the back of the net twice and dished out two assists for St. Joseph Hill (8-0-0) in CHSAA intersectional. Gianna Smith added two goals and Meghan Siller chipped in two assists. Fontbonne is 2-5-0.

Bishop Kearney 8, St. Agnes 0: Shannon Fahy scored four goals and collected three assists for Bishop Kearney (3-6-1) in CHSAA intersectional. Christina Heyer had two goals and two assists and Darian Raccuglia had two goals and one assists. Erin O’Connor added two helpers.

St. Francis Prep 4, St. Dominic 2: Wendy Avendano scored twice and had two assists for St. Francis Prep (2-5-0) in CHSAA Nassau/Suffolk. Both of her scores started a three-goal second half. Maria Moutopoulos and Gina Baglieri each added goals. Katie O’Brien scored twice for St. Dominic (1-5-0).

Cardinal Spellman 6, St. Catharine 0: Taylor Addison scored four goals and dished out an assist for Cardinal Spellman (5-3-0) in CHSAA Bronx/Westchester. Nasya Sandy added a goal and an assist and Danae Dookie chipped in a goal.

PSAA

Staten Island Academy 8, Lawrence Woodmere 0: Linda Jean Delfini found the back of the net twice and Jeanine Nunez added a goal and two assists for Staten Island Academy (8-0-0). Kelsey McLoughlin, Gabby Tricorico, Samantha Avis, Morgan Avis and Sade Dinkins each added goals.

NYCAL

Columbia Prep 4, UNIS 0: Madi Rosegarten scored two goals and Ella Rubin had a goal and an assists for Columbia Prep (5-0) in NYCAL. Ava Mora added a goal. UNIS is 3-1.
