A Southampton man got sacked as he slept when a burglar stole a valuable Giants football helmet and other vintage goods from his home.
The thief entered the Tuckahoe Lane home through an unlocked door on Sept. 26 at about 3 a.m.
His big catch was a Giants helmet signed by the entire 1986 Super Bowl-winning roster valued at more than $5,000, sources said.
The crook also made off with three Naval Academy dress swords, a Naval Academy ring and a silver flask engraved with the scores of the annual Army-Navy football game, cops said.
Police said the resident heard the thief and confronted him before the intruder fled.
