A Texas man tried to smuggle a “trench knife” — a large folding blade with a brass-knuckles handle — onto a plane to Istanbul at JFK, sources said yesterday.
Jason Aramburu, 26, of San Antonio, was stopped by a Transportation Security Administration agent at around 4:50 p.m. Monday after an X-ray machine screening his luggage indicated there was a suspicious item in it, the sources said. The agent found the knife packed amid a bunch of auto parts, a source said.
A trench knife is designed so the wielder can use a knife and brass knuckles in one swing.
Aramburu was charged with a misdemeanor weapons-possession rap punishable by up to a year in jail.
