Cops shot a woman wielding a knife this evening in Midtown, authorities said.
Officers from the 17th Precinct were called for a fight involving a weapon on East 45th Street near Second Avenue around 8:30 p.m., sources said.
When they arrived, the cops saw the woman with a blade and ordered her to drop it, the sources said. When she didn’t, they fired, striking her at least once, according to the sources.
The woman was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition.
“I heard like five shots,” said a woman working at the nearby Amish Market.
“People came into the store and said there was a woman was shot by the cops.”
