Cops nab posible suspect in one B’klyn sex attack

Cops tonight nabbed a possible suspect in at least one of the serial sex attacks in Brooklyn, authorities said.

The man is being eyed in the lewd groping of a 18-year-old Sunset Park woman as she left the subway at 36th Street and Fourth Avenue around 8 p.m. yesterday, officials said.

While the attack was not initially believed to be part of the creepy string of assaults involving several men, authorities now say they consider it to be part of at least a “geographical pattern.’’

The man, who was still being questioned, fits the description of other attackers: He is short, Hispanic and in his late 20s, authorities said.

Still, “these are independent actions, I think,’’ said Inspector Jesus Raul Pintos at last night’s monthly community meeting for the 72 Precinct, where 10 of the 13 incidents have occurred. “There definitely more than one [perpetrator].’’

Asked if the department could be dealing with a copycat, Pintos said, “It’s possible.”

The man being eyed in the Sunset Park assault was apprehended around 9 p.m. at 42nd Street and 5th Avenue after fitting the description of the attacker and matching footage from video surveillance in the area, officials said.
