Softball roundup: Montero, Richmond Hill edge out LIC

Richmond Hill held off Long Island City with a big sixth inning and some strong pitching.

Emily Montero gave up one earned run on three hits and struck out seven with seven walks to lead Richmond Hill to a 3-2 win over LIC in Queens A-II softball Tuesday at Smokey Oval Park.

Kelly Espinoza, Sandy Chen and Ulismary Rivera each scored a run for Richmond Hill (2-2). LIC falls to 1-3.

Stuyvesant 13, Bergtraum 5: Ana Slade went 3-for-5 with a home run, five RBIs and two runs scored and Morgan Higgins gave up three earned runs on seven hits in seven innings for Stuy (3-1 Manhattan A). Bergtraum is 0-5.

CHSAA BROOKLYN/QUEENS AA

Mary Louis 10, Christ the King 0: Nicole Hubert allowed just one hit over five innings and drove in a run with a sac fly for Mary Louis (1-2). Louisa Conway had a double, two runs scored and an RBI and Shannon Minihane added an RBI single Christ the King is (0-2).

PSAL CLASS B

Scholars Academy 20, Far Rockaway 0: Rebecca O’Connor went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Taylor Gallagher was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and one run for Scholars (5-1 Queens B-II). Kayla Nolan gave up just a walk in four no-hit innings. Far Rock is 3-3.

John Adams 42, Campus Magnet 7: Olinda Cespedes went 5-for-5 with 11 RBIs and six runs scored and Racquel Phagoo went 4-for-4 with five RBIs and six runs for Adams (6-0 Queens B-II). Campus Magnet is 0-6.

Monroe 28, Banana Kelly 10: Diana Ocampo went 2-for-5 with four RBIs and Johane Bello, Xena Rodriguez and Yaidee Nieves each had two RBIs for Monroe (4-1 Bronx B-III). Banana Kelly is 1-3.
