TODAY

BART & THE BARD: What do Shakespeare and ”The Simpsons” have in common? Not much, but that doesn’t mean Rick Miller’s “MacHomer” won’t be the best take on the Scottish play you’ve ever seen, featuring more than 50 impersonations of characters from the show, plus cool and clever dialogue. (Is that a dagger Homer sees before him, or a pizza?) Ages 8 and up. 2 and 8 p.m., $20 to $32. NYU’s Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, 566 La Guardia Place, at Washington Square; 212-351-3101, nyuskirball.org

ERIN GO BRAGH: That means “Ireland forever,” right? Who cares if St. Patrick’s Day is over? You can’t skip the Irish Arts Festival at the Children’s Museum of the Arts — not when jig lessons, storytelling and knitting workshops are scheduled. 1 to 5 p.m., $10 per person. 103 Charlton St., between Hudson and Greenwich streets; 212-274-0986, cmany.org

DO THE DOO: Fans of Artie Bennett’s “The Butt Book” won’t want to miss the Children’s Museum of Manhattan’s kickoff event for book No. 2, the aptly titled “Poopendous!” Bennett will read, sign copies and tell plenty of potty-themed jokes. (Kids love this stuff, don’t even bother fighting it.) 4 to 5 p.m., free with admission ($11 per person). 212 W. 83rd St., between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue; 212-721-1223, cmom.org

TOMORROW

ON YOUR TOES: You’ll have no choice but to be inspired at Manhattan Movement & Arts Center’s 2012 Spring Workshop. Young, talented dancers will perform excerpts from pieces including “Swan Lake,” “Don Quixote” and “Le Corsaire,” accompanied by a very special guest from the New York City Ballet. 1:30 and 5:30 p.m., $30 for adults, $20 for students/kids. 248 W. 60th St., between Amsterdam and West End avenues; manhattanyouthballet.org

HIPPITY HOPPITY: Come on, you know you want a picture with the Easter Bunny. Good thing he’ll be at J&R Junior’s first-ever Easter Celebration, where pics with the hoppin’ hare are free for kids (just like the arts-and-crafts activities and jelly beans!). 1 to 6 p.m., free. 1 Park Row, at Ann Street, across from City Hall Park, second floor; JR.com/jr
