School super’s super salary

The Issue: The Post’s reporting on a Long Island superintendent who makes $405,244 a year.

The fact that a married couple has achieved true wealth via careers in education should answer a few questions (“LI Big ‘Skirts’ Salary Cap,” April 1).

Why is education such a large expenditure in New York’s budget?

And how is it that we are so deep in debt?

I am not anti-education, I just have a hard time reconciling that kind of compensation where there is no risk taken, guarantees are too numerous to name and, generally speaking, you work 10 months or less out of the year.

We shouldn’t complain about Carole Hankin’s $405,244 salary.

She could make far more telling us how she could look like a 30-year-old at 69.

What has it come to if we are paying a superintendent in charge of 6,600 students over a half a million dollars including benefits?

If anyone wonders why our economy, taxes and unemployment are out of control, look no further than the Long Island school districts.

This is just a symbol of our problems. How dare our leaders allow this to be going on? It just shows how corrupt our system truly is.

It is absurd to pay any superintendent that amount of money. She makes more than the president of the United States.

If we are ever to return to stability, we must correct all the inequities in the system — starting with these insane salaries.
