A British tourist who flew here for a wedding had Newark Airport officials more nervous than the groom Thursday after he strolled past TSA screeners, causing part of a terminal to be shut down for nearly an hour while delaying at least four flights, sources said.
Charan J. Singh, 64, was charged with criminal trespass — and given a summons — after cops determined he’d ignored an exit sign and made his way through a “no entrance” area to meet arriving family members.
The foul-up occurred at about 2:40 p.m., when Singh cluelessly walked through the restricted area in Terminal B, said Al Della Fave, a spokesman for the Port Authority Police Department.
PAPD Officers Troy Moravek and Erin Jessen spotted Singh 15 minutes later and detained him.
A surveillance video showed Singh had asked a screener a question before nonchalantly walking through an exit lane while the TSA worker was preoccupied while dealing with someone else.
