NYC girls lacrosse rankings

It was status quo at least for this week.

The PSAL teams were off for the holiday break and resume play this week. No. 1 Poly Prep went a perfect 3-0 last week and No. 2 Riverdale is playing well. The biggest game this week has little meaning in the standings. No. 7 Mary Louis and No. 10 Cardozo square off Saturday in Oakland Gardens in a contest looking to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. There will be no losers on that day.

Check out this week’s rankings:

1. Poly Prep (3-0) (Last week: 1)

Poly keeps rolling along. The Blue Devils remain unbeaten after wins over Fieldston, Hempstead and Horace Mann. A big test awaits them Wednesday when Ivy League power Hackley visits Bay Ridge. A win puts them in first place by themselves.

Next: Hackley (April 18, 4:30 p.m.)

2. Riverdale (2-1) (2)

The Falcons rebound from their season-opening loss to Poly by beating Dalton and Horace Mann. Madeline Hopper scored five times against the Tigers. The competition gets stiff with games against Fieldston and Hackley scheduled for this week.

Next: No. 4 Fieldston (April 18, 4:15 p.m.)

3. Staten Island Academy (1-0) (3)

Staten Island Academy won easily in its league opener against Brearley, 14-2. Gabby Tricorico and Emily D’Arco each found the back of the net three times. Erin Gibbons chipped in three assists.

Next: @ Spence (April 20, 4:15 p.m.)

4. Fieldston (1-2) (4)

Fieldston opened the Ivy League season by beating Trinity behind star Chloe Chasanoff. It played right with Poly Prep in a 9-6 loss and was handled by Hackley. The Eagles can get back on track when they visit Riverdale on Wednesday.

Next: @ No. 2 Riverdale (April 18, 4:15 p.m.)

5. Horace Mann (1-3) (5)

The schedule makers weren’t kind to the Lions. After a win over Trinity they had to face Ivy League powers Hackley, Riverdale and Poly Prep the next three games, all losses. Mann can try to get back to winning ways against Dalton.

Next: Dalton (April 18, 4:30 p.m.)

6. Tottenville (5-1) (6)

The Pirates have had plenty of time to think about their tough loss to rival Curtis. They get back to PSAL play this week against Hunter and Stuyvesant. Maria Cacciapuoti (24 goals) and Victoria Orlick (19) have formed a nice goal-scoring tandem.

Next: @ Hunter (April 17, 4 p.m.)

7. Mary Louis (2-0) (7)

TMLA gets back to action in a big way, starting with St. Dominic. Mary Louis will then take part in Cardozo’s Breast Cancer Awareness game Saturday morning to help raise money for a great cause. It should be a good game between two up and coming programs.

Next: @ St Dominic (April 18, 4 p.m.)

8. Midwood (6-1) (9)

Moriam Soetan has scored 27 goals and dished out six assists and has the Hornets at the top of the PSAL. They can solidify that spot this week when they head to Queens to play a talented Beach Channel squad Thursday.

Next: Frederick Douglass (April 17, 5 p.m.)

9. Curtis (4-2) (9)

Coach Matt Gonzalez believes his team may be hitting its stride following a win over rival Tottenville. The Lions are still playing catch up, sitting a game behind three other teams as the second half of the season begins.

Next: Stuyvesant (April 17, 4 p.m.)

10. Cardozo (4-1) (10)

The Judges have proven they are a true PSAL title contender and can continue to do so against Beach Channel. Cardozo can the take the mantel as best the team in Queens all with a good cause in mind when it takes on Mary Louis on Saturday in a Breast Cancer awareness game.

Next: Beach Channel (April 17, 4 p.m.)

New: Curtis (4-2)

Dropped out: Beach Channel (4-2)

On the bubble: Beach Channel (4-2), St. Francis Prep (0-2) and St. John Villa (0-2)
