NY GOP to honor SI’s Molinari with lifetime achievement award

He’s the GOP’s guy.

The New York State Republican Party will honor Staten Island leader Guy Molinari with its lifetime achievement award at its annual dinner tonight.

Molinari, 83, the former congressman and borough president, is currently state chairman for Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign.

The Korean War veteran has helped transform Staten Island into the only solid GOP bastion in Democratic-dominated New York City over the past four decades.

And his backing has helped elect mayors and governors along the way.

“Guy is terrific. He’s a wonderful Republican and he calls them as he sees them,” said state GOP chairman Ed Cox.
