Jeter has ‘SNL’ advice for Manning

Two weeks from now, Eli Manning will host “Saturday Night Live” for the first time. Derek Jeter remembers how he felt when he did it in 2001.

“I was scared to death,” Jeter told The Post yesterday. “I really was.”

Manning, the Giants’ Super Bowl-winning quarterback, will host on May 5.

Jeter said his advice for his fellow star is to have fun.

“I would just tell him to enjoy himself,” Jeter said. “Have a good time.”

Jeter said hosting SNL was enjoyable, and he admitted he initially didn’t realize how much of a commitment it would be.

“It’s a lot of work that goes into it,” he said.

Jeter’s SNL episode featured two musical guests, rapper Bubba Sparxxx and pop singer Shakira, not the customary one.

What was Jeter’s favorite sketch? “I liked the one that I had a perm,” he said.

* The Yankees have an interesting 24-hour schedule, with a game last night in New York and a game at 3:15 p.m. today in Boston.

“It’s kind of tough. I think if it were 1:00, it would be a lot harder. And we’re not going far,” manager Joe Girardi said. “It’s not that big of a deal.”

Added Mark Teixeira: “It happens. Our schedule isn’t perfect, but nothing we can do about it.”

* Girardi said he will “probably” platoon Raul Ibanez and Andruw Jones in left field while Brett Gardner is on the disabled list. Ibanez started last night. … Andy Pettitte is set to make minor league start No. 3 today in an extended spring game.

* Girardi said Jeter would likely DH tomorrow. Jeter’s RBI single last night tied him with former Yankee Dave Winfield for 18th all time with 3,110 career hits.

The Yankees released a statement from Winfield that read: “I hope he pauses for just a moment to admire the view with me, and then keeps on going. This is just one more achievement in an incredible career.”
