The seventh-seeded Knicks and second-seeded Heat are set for their Eastern Conference playoff showdown. Miami swept the season series, 3-0, though the Knicks didn’t play any of the games with Carmelo Anthony, Amar’e Stoudemire and interim coach Mike Woodson all together. Here’s a look back:
Jan. 27 at Miami
Heat 99, Knicks 89
This is the least telling game of the regular-season matchups. Not only was Mike D’Antoni still the coach, but Anthony didn’t play, Toney Douglas started at point guard and Bill Walker was the Knicks’ leading scorer with 21 points. LeBron James and Dwyane Wade combined for 59 points, though Chris Bosh shot just 4-for-18.
Feb. 23 at Miami
Heat 102, Knicks 88
In the final game before the All-Star break, D’Antoni was still on the sidelines, but both Anthony and Stoudemire were on the court. Neither, though, did much. Anthony shot 7-of-20 for 19 points, while Stoudemire went 4-of-7 for 13 points. Jeremy Lin, at the peak of Linsanity, was an abominable 1-for-11 with eight turnovers. James, Wade and Bosh all scored at least 20, and the Heat bench (led by Norris Cole’s 10) chipped in with 27 points.
April 15 at MSG
Heat 93, Knicks 85
Mike Woodson, 9-0 at home to this point, was the head coach in the series for the first time. With Stoudemire out with a bulging disk, Anthony dominated, pouring in 42 points. He and J.R. Smith, making his debut in the season series, are the only Knicks in double-figures (Smith scored 16). Starting point guard Baron Davis managed only three points and four assists, with five turnovers. James, Wade and Bosh score 73 of the Heat’s 93 points.
