Today

FIESTA FOREVER: Wear your dancing shoes to MoonSoup’s Cinco de Mayo party, quite possibly the only local celebration of the Mexican holiday that’s appropriate for wee ones (ages 2 months to 2 years). In other words, there’ll be no tequila shooters, but plenty of Latin tunes, Mexican-style arts and crafts, and wine and cheese for grown-ups. 4:30 to 7 p.m., free for member families and $10 per guest. E-mail info@moonsoup.net to RSVP. 1059 Second Ave., at 56th Street; 212-319-3222, moonsoup.net

GREEN SCENE: Do yourself and the Earth a favor and check out the Go Green! Greenpoint Earth Day Festival at McCarren Park. Besides lots of info and exhibits on how to be a super-sustainable family, there’ll be eco-arts and crafts, music and cool local/recycled/handmade stuff for sale. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., admission is free (bring cash to buy stuff). Bayard Street to Nassau Avenue, between Leonard and North 12th streets, Brooklyn; 347-559-1410, townsquareinc.com

TOMORROW

PIZZA PIZZA: What’s better than pizza? Laughing Pizza, of course. See the piping-hot new kid rockers play at the Scholastic Theatre as part of the Read Every Day at Scholastic family event, where kids can also hear stories told by the authors who wrote them, including Jon Scieszka and Denise Lewis Patrick. 1 to 4 p.m., $50 for kids, $75 for adults. 577 Broadway, between Prince and Spring streets; booksforkids.org/ReadEveryDay

STREET SMART: Move on down to the Lower East Side for the Henry Street Settlement Block Party, possibly the most authentic old-style street fair in town. (Stickball and ring-a-levio? Sign us up!) Noon to 3 p.m., free. 265 Henry St., at Montgomery Street; 212-766-9200; henrystreet.org

HUNGRY HIPPO: Yum! This year’s Hippo Playground Spring Fair will feature a cupcake-decorating contest, as well as all the usual high jinks around the hippo sculptures (pony rides, a bouncy castle, games, a petting zoo and more). 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., admission is free. (Proceeds from tickets for attractions go toward park maintenance.) 91st Street at Riverside Drive; riversideparkfund.org
