Detroit woman finds mystery engraved diamond ring in her toilet

DETROIT — A Detroit woman has told of her shock at finding a mystery diamond ring while cleaning her home’s toilet.

Ashley Cook said she initially was not sure what she had discovered when she spotted something shiny and gold in the toilet, myFOXdetroit.com reported.

“I said, ‘What is that?’ and I went in my closet and I got some rubber gloves and I took it out,” she explained. “I soaked it with alcohol.”

What she found was a gold ring wrapped in a string of diamonds. It was engraved with the loving phrase “Christina and Jerry forever.”

Cook still does not know how the ring ended up in her toilet or who owns it, but she does not want their apparent love to go down the drain.

“It’s like a token of lost love,” she said. “Together forever, that means a lot to me, so I want them to have this back. A reward isn’t required for me at all.”

Plumbers said it was not possible that the ring had traveled its way up through the plumbing and it was more likely that someone had dropped it in the toilet.

Cook said she just wants to do the right thing for Jerry and Christina. “It’s amazing how it could pop up in my toilet,” she said.
