Sue Simmons won’t be on the boob tube much longer — but she’s leaving a mark!
The Ch. 4 anchor was caught in another hilariously candid blurt, thanks to a hot mike moments before Monday’s 11 o’clock news.
“The ball took a bad hop and it hit me in my breast!” Simmons could be heard to say during Channel 4’s not-so-smooth transition from the end of the show “Smash” to the beginning of the news.
Co-anchor Chuck Scarborough was apparently shocked by Simmons and could be heard asking: “Are we on?”
When the opening credits ended and the camera finally focused on the anchors, Scarborough began the newscast without acknowledging the glitch.
“Now on 11, safety in question. An urgent call for action in the wake of a terrible crash that killed seven family members — three of them children,” the cool-headed Scarborough read.
Ch. 4 has already confirmed it does not plan to pick up the veteran Simmons’ contract when it expires this summer and that she is set to leave 30 Rock in June.
Simmons has been on the air for 32 years.
In 2008, Sue was also unaware the mike was on when she blurted out to Scarborough: “What the f – – k are you doing?”
