‘Tanorexic’ mom banned from New Jersey tanning salons

“Tanorexic” mom Patricia Krentcil was banned from several New Jersey tanning salons after her antics gave them a bad rap.

Krentcil, who denies charges that she brought her five-year-old daughter into a tanning booth, will be turned away from the Nutley, N.J., stores of Planet Sun Tanning Salon, Body Works Salon, Bodies in Heat and Sunset Tans should she deign to show her deeply-bronzed face, TMZ reported Wednesday.

And just in case the salons’ receptionists do not recognize her mahogany hue, some have posted a picture of the so-called “Tanning Mom” on the wall.

But it’s not just Krentcil who faces a frosty reception.

City Tropics Tanning, the salon where her daughter, Anna, allegedly received a sunburn while “tanning with … mommy,” is set to be investigated by the New Jersey Department of Health over the accusations, according to the report.

Krentcil, who denounced her critics as “jealous, fat and … ugly,” has seen her scorched star rise after being lampooned by Kristen Wiig on “Saturday Night Live,” ridiculed by Jimmy Kimmel and even called a “crazy bitch” by “Jersey Shore” tanning aficionado Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi.

Now she has reached the ultimate pop culture accolade — being immortalized as a doll.

For just $29.95, you too can own your very own “tanorexic” action figure, complete with black pantsuit, blonde hair, and a face that appears to be seven times more orange than the hands.

The effigy seems to be a resounding success for toymaker Herobuilders. The Oxford, Conn., firm’s president, Emil Vicale, wrote Wednesday on Twitter, “Herobuilders in the news from boston to Budapest.”
