PSAL baseball roundup: Walton tops Morris in first game after forfeits

Walton started the long road back to the playoffs with a dramatic walk-off win.

Winslow Jimenez hit a two-run, two-out, two-strike single to lift the Wildcats past Morris, 3-2, in Bronx A East baseball on Monday.

Walton, which lost seven wins last week when the PSAL ruled it used an ineligible player, is now 3-9 and needs to win out to make the playoffs. Morris is now 2-8. Robert Velasquez worked two innings of scoreless relief for the win and Josias Zapata, Daniel Mota and Larry Campusano each scored a run for Walton.

DeWitt Clinton 3, James Monroe 1: Eliu Baez struck out seven and allowed four hits in 6-2/3 for his second league win, Jordany Aquino had two hits and drove in two runs and Hansel Castillo had two hits and scored a run for Clinton (6-4), which snapped a five-game losing streak to its rival in Bronx A East. Inoel Nunez had a run-scoring double for Monroe, which is now 11-1.

James Madison 10, Midwood 0: Matt Zalon had two hits and three RBIs, Mike Fitzpatrick struck out six in five shutout innings and had three hits, scored two runs and drove in another and Joe Cali added two hits and two RBIs for Madison (10-1) in Brooklyn A East. Midwood is 7-5.

Grand Street Campus 8, Bushwick Campus 2: Ernesto Lopez had four hits and three RBIs, Kevin Martir tripled, doubled and scored three runs and Jason Plascencia struck out seven and allowed no hits in six innings for Grand Street (11-1) in Brooklyn A West. Bushwick is 3-9.

Newtown 7, Aviation 0: Matt Duverge struck out six in six innings of four-hit ball, Brian Ferreira had three RBIs and Luisandry Javier had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run for Newtown (8-4) in Queens A West. Aviation is 5-8 in Queens A East.

Tottenville 3, Curtis 0: Mike Sullivan struck out 10 and allowed just two hits in a complete-game performance, he also homered and drove in two runs and Stephen Notaro had two hits and scored a run for Tottenville (11-3), which has won 11 straight games in Staten Island A. Curtis is 8-6.

Port Richmond 6, Petrides 3: John Shields had three hits, scored once and drove in two runs, Xavier Pena had three hits, an RBI and scored a run and Matt Potestio notched two hits and two RBIs for Port Richmond (5-11) in Staten Island A. Petrides is 3-13.

FDR 4, Lafayette 0: Ariel Lora had two RBIs, Henry Dominquez had two hits and scored a run and Arben Becaj struck out eight in 5-2/3 for FDR (5-6) in Brooklyn A West. Lafayette is 2-9.

New Utrecht 2, Telecommunications 0: Andrew Nathan tossed a complete-game, one-hitter and struck out four, Vincent Palmiotto had an RBI and Christian Vergara and Vincent Paraspolo each scored a run for New Utrecht (9-3) in Brooklyn A West. Telecom (8-3) has lost two in a row.

us 5: Jason Araujo tripled, doubled, scored two runs and drove in three runs, Sage Cheren scored two runs and Franklin Tejeda had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run for RKA (4-6) in Bronx A West. Columbus falls to 2-8.

Arts & Business 9, Robert F. Wagner Jr. 7: Critofel Felix had three hits, scored twice and drove in two runs, Stanley Polanco scored twice and Anthony Checo and Alvin Laquar each drove in two runs for Arts & Business (6-6) in Queens B Central. Robert F. Wagner Jr. is 3-7.

Queens HS of Teaching 3, Beach Channel 1: Raysel Rojas had two RBIs and scored a run and Jonathan Morales also drove in a run for QHST (8-2) in Queens B South. Beach Channel falls to 7-3.

Far Rockaway 9, August Martin 4: Jordan Aquino had five RBIs, Jeyson Rivas had three hits, scored three runs and drove in two and Ismael De Los Santos went the distance and struck out 11 for Far Rockaway (1-11), which rallied for six runs in the seventh, in Queens B South. August Martin is 1-10.

Construction 2, Robert F. Kennedy 1: Benny Pena tossed a three-hitter and struck out seven and Vincent Colletti had two RBIs for Construction (10-2) in Queens B Central. Robert F. Kennedy is 6-2.

Grady 8, Juan Morel Campos 7: Jose Cortorreal tripled, scored a run and drove in three, John Serrano had three hits, an RBI and scored a run and James Smith and Brandon Caratozzolo each had two hits, an RBI and scored a run for Grady (12-0) in Brooklyn B South. Juan Morel Campos is 8-2 in Brooklyn B North.

Washington Irving 8, School of the Future 4: Melvin Ali struck out seven in five innings for the win, Miguel Rivera Sanchez had two hits, scored once and drove in two runs and Andrew Rivera scored twice for Washington Irving (8-2) in Manhattan B South. School of the Future is 5-5.

Banneker 7, Millennium 6: Ronald Lashley had four hits, scored three runs and drove in two, Raymond Rosado doubled, had three hits and scored twice and Neal Daniels fanned eight in 5-1/3 for Banneker (9-2) in Brooklyn B North. Millennium is now 6-5 in Brooklyn B South.

Bread & Roses 16, Bayard Rustin 9: Erick Herrera had three hits, scored three runs and drove in four, Solomon Melendez scored four runs and Jason Garcia notched two hits, scored twice and added three RBIs for Bread & Roses (4-6) in Manhattan B Central. Bayard Rustin is 2-8.

East Harlem Pride 3, Hunter College HS 2: (eight innings): Nathaniel Rivera had two hits and scored twice, Gabriel Velez scattered seven hits over 7-1/3 and Michael Guance added two hits for East Harlem Pride (3-6) in Manhattan B North. Hunter College is also 3-6.
