Billy Wilder wrote and directed this hilarious classic starring Marilyn Monroe and Tom Ewell. A married New Yorker (Ewell) is in heaven when his wife and kids go away for the summer; he figures he can eat and drink whatever he wants. All good, until his sexy upstairs neighbor — the one, the only Marilyn — catches his eye and they start spending time together. Yes this is the movie with the iconic, billowing white dress.

The Social Network, 2010

Monday, 6:55 p.m., STARZ

Three Oscars, including Best Adapted Screenplay, went to this story of the creation of Facebook by Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg. It takes us from the concept by the very unsocial Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg, above right) to the lawsuits brought by the Winklevoss twins (Armie Hammer), who claim it was their idea, and by c0-founder Eduardo Saverin (Andrew Garfield) who was shut out. With Justin Timberlake (above left).

The Breakfast Club, 1985

Tuesday. 11 a.m., Cinemax

My personal favorite of all the John Hughes brat pack flicks is this one about a bunch of kids with nothing in common other than being forced to spend a Saturday together in detention. There is the (l-r.) the Criminal (Judd Nelson), the Jock (Emilio Estevez), the Kook (Ally Sheedy), the Princess (Molly Ringwald), and the Brain (Anthony Michael Hall). By the end of the day they have bared their souls to one another. Best is Paul Gleason as the assistant principal.

As Good As It Gets, 1997

Friday, 8 p.m, FLIXe

Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt won Oscars for their roles in this story about a curmudgeonly, nasty NYC writer who is forced to care for the dog of his sick gay neighbor (Greg Kinnear) and worse — live with not having his breakfast served exactly as he wants it when the waitress at his favorite diner must care for a sick child. With Shirley Knight.
