B’klyn love story in the mailbox

This summer romance will be delivered first class.

A Brooklyn artist plans to send strangers hundreds of handwritten postcards, letters and valentines — each an installment of “Greetings from Coney Island,” a time-travel love story.

“I would love to get mail from the 1930s,” said Gyda Arber, 32, of Greenpoint. “But no one’s going to send it to me, so I’ll send it to other people instead.”

The tale is Brooklyn’s version of “The Lake House” or “Somewhere in Time.” As the weeks go by, participants will discover more about their faraway soulmates.

Arber’s fiancé/writing partner, Aaron Baker, died in his sleep in September. He was 41.

“Everything was a disaster and still is, kind of,” she said. “In that grief, I wished I could write him letters.”

She launched the project on kickstarter.com last week, and more than 75 people have already signed up.

There will be four story lines to choose from, based on sexual preference, so that no one’s left out.

That’s about 900 handwritten or typed messages over 12 weeks — and nothing will be photocopied.

“I want it to feel authentic,” Arber explained. “It loses all of the fun if it’s preprinted.”
