Leiby Kletzky’s dad helps launch new $1M street surveillance program

The father of slain Brooklyn schoolboy Leiby Kletzky yesterday helped launch a state-funded $1million safety program that will see 150 surveillance cameras installed in Borough Park and Midwood in the next two months.

Nachman Kletzky kept his head bowed and declined to speak as he stood with Assemblyman Dov Hikind and state Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos to announce the new initiative, named after little Leiby.

The child was walking alone after day camp last July when he crossed paths with Levi Aron, who is accused of drugging, smothering and dismembering him.

Cameras will be installed along thoroughfares and outside schools, synagogues and banks. The Legislature still has to vote to allow the NYPD access to the footage.
