PSAL baseball roundup: Beacon tops Stuy, takes over top spot in Manhattan A West

Beacon exploded for seven runs in the seventh inning to take over the top spot in Manhattan A West on Wednesday.

Avery Perez had two hits and four RBIs and Dylan Long added two RBIs as the Blue Demons topped rival Stuyvesant, 9-2, at Pier 40. Giovanni Dingcong scored twice, Nikolai Grumet added an RBI and scored a run and Isaiah Sakany picked up the win in relief for Beacon (11-3), which had two games left and claims its fourth straight division title outright if it wins out. Julian Michaels and Thomas Dorante drove in runs for the Hitmen (10-4).

Telecommunications 3, Fort Hamilton 1: Alex Fernandez had two RBIs, Chris Lee struck out eight and allowed just three hits for his third league win and Josh Palacios doubled and scored once for Telecom, which clinched at least a share of the Brooklyn A West crown. Fort Hamilton (10-5) has lost three in a row.

Grand Street Campus 4, James Madison 3: Matt Zalon had two hits and two RBIs and Raymond Draxdorf scored once and drove in a run for Madison (12-3) in defeat. Grand Street Campus (15-1) clinched its second straight Brooklyn A East crown.

John F. Kennedy 4, Lehman 2: The Knights swept the season series from Lehman and clinched the Bronx A West title as a result. Kennedy is now 11-4 while Lehman finishes 8-6.

James Monroe 9, Taft 1: Ivan Objio had two hits, scored twice and drove in three runs, Carlos Cortijo had two hits and scored twice and Randy Perez struck out nine and allowed just two hits in six innings for Monroe (13-3), which has clinched the Bronx A East title. Taft is 9-4.

Tottenville 6, Susan Wagner 0: Vin Aiello yielded just two hits over five shutout innings for the win, Anthony Capo had two RBIs and Joe Sessa followed with a two-run triple for Tottenville (15-3), which finished the regular season with 15 straight wins in Staten Island A. Wagner is now 7-10.

McKee/Staten Island Tech 5, Curtis 4: Pasquale Montemarano went four innings for the win, Parker Oks drove in two runs and Nick Manisero added an RBI for MSIT (10-8) in Staten Island A. Curtis is 9-8.

New Dorp 3, Port Richmond 0: Mike Campanella tossed a one-hit shutout, Charlie Cabranes drove in two runs and Joe Cascella plated one for New Dorp (11-6), which finishes in second place in Staten Island A. Port Richmond is 6-12.

Midwood 14, Brooklyn Tech 5: Mike McCann had four hits and six RBIs, Joseph Dlieo had four hits, doubled twice, scored three runs and had five RBIs and Brandon Eng scored three runs for MIdwood (10-5) in Brooklyn A East. Brooklyn Tech falls to 1-13.

Newtown 4, Long Island City 1: Matt Duverge struck out six and allowed two hits in a complete-game victory, Chris Moreno scored twice and Luisandry Javier added an RBI and scored a run for Newtown (11-4) in Queens A West. LIC is now 8-7.

John Adams 9, Francis Lewis 7: Jose Reynoso had three hits, three RBIs and scored two runs, Jorge Barahona scored three runs and had two hits and Richard LeBron added three hits, an RBI and scored a run for Adams (13-1), which clinched the Queens A West crown. Lewis falls to 4-10 in Queens A East.

CLASS B

Queens HS of Teaching 17, Renaissance 0: Pedro Figueroa had five hits, scored two runs and drove in three, Jason Zamora notched two hits, scored twice and notched two RBIs and Lisandro Jimenez added three RBIs and scored twice for QHST (11-3) in Queens B South. Renaissance is 5-10.

Arts & Business 8, Townsend Harris 7: Stanley Polanco had three hits, two RBIs and scored a run, Brian Quezada had two hits and two RBIs and Anthony Checo and Critofel Felix each scored two runs for Arts & Business (9-6) in Queens B Central. Townsend Harris is 4-9.

Construction 9, Transit Tech 0: Benny Pena had four hits, scored three runs and drove in two, Jeremy Martinez and Justin Baierlein each scored twice and Pena struck out 10 in seven shutout innings of two-hit ball for Construction (13-2) in Queens B Central. Transit Tech is 10-3.

Health Professions 9, Washington Irving 2: Franklin Encarnacion had two hits and scored three runs, Emmanuel Mendoza, Andrew Abreu, Darwin Jimenez and Matt Rodriguez each drove in two runs and Rodriguez also struck out seven over six innings of work for Health Professions (7-3) in Manhattan B South. Washington Irving is 12-3, but still leads the division.

A.P. Randolph 19, Hunter College HS 1: Calvin Jimenez scored three runs and drove in four, Randal Mendez tripled, doubled and had four RBIs and Andy Vargas had three hits, scored twice and added three RBIs for Randolph (9-1), which scored eight runs apiece in the first two innings, in Manhattan B North. Hunter falls to 4-8.

South Bronx 5, InTech 0: Kevin Victoriano tossed a three-hit shutout and struck out 15 for his eighth league win, Luis Lopez had two hits, two RBIs and scored two runs and Victoriano added an RBI and scored a run for South Bronx (15-0) in Bronx B North. InTech is 10-5.
