Bangkok police arrest man accused of buying fetuses

BANGKOK — Police in Bangkok arrested a Taiwanese man accused of buying fetuses for sale online, it was reported Friday.

Chou Hong Hun, 28, was arrested in a hotel in the Yaowarat district of Bangkok, according to the Bangkok Post. Six fetuses were found packed into a suitcase in Hun’s bedroom.

Chou allegedly confessed to paying 200,000 baht ($6,400) for the six fetuses, adding that they were to be sold on Taiwanese websites.

He also said he was hired by another Taiwanese man to collect the fetuses for use in superstitious rituals.

The fetuses had been roasted and covered in gold leaf as part of a black magic ritual, AFP reported.

“He said he planned to sell the fetuses to clients who believe they will make them lucky and rich,” said Col. Wiwat Kamchamnan, of Bangkok police.

Chou, who also reportedly has British citizenship, faces one year in prison and a 2,000 baht fine.

The origin of the fetuses was unclear.
