Tennessee father of 30 kids to 11 women pleads for state help with child support

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A Tennessee man’s problems paying child support are perhaps not so surprising — he has 30 children with 11 different women.

Desmond Hatchett, 33, of Knoxville, is pleading with the state to help him pay the women a reasonable amount of child support, citing the fact that he earns minimum wage.

Hatchett first made national news in 2009, when his tally stood at 21 children, FOXNews.com reported.

“I had four kids in the same year,” he told WREG-TV. “Twice.”

The mothers of his children are supposed to get anywhere from $25 a month to $309 a month for help raising the children. The state already takes half of Hatchett’s paycheck to divide among the women, but now he wants authorities to help him meet his obligations.

Currently, some of the women he has fathered children to receive as little as $1.49 a month, WREG reported.

The children range in age from toddlers to 14 years, and despite the huge number, Hatchett said he knows all their names and birth dates.
