$466M CityTime payback

City Hall received a $466 million wire transfer yesterday, marking the end of the CityTime payroll scandal, the feds announced.

The money was paid by tech contractor SAIC in a play to avoid prosecution in connection with the boondoggle timekeeping project.

CityTime was supposed to cut down on overtime fraud and streamline municipal-payroll functions but instead became a colossal kickback scandal.

A dozen people have been implicated, including one SAIC exec facing charges and another who has agreed to roll over on his colleagues.

SAIC entered an agreement in March with the US Attorney’s Office. The money is going to be used to cover most of the city’s $495 million budget gap.
