Jets rookie receiver breaks foot

Jets seventh-round pick Jordan White has a broken bone in his left foot and the wide receiver will be unable to practice until some time around training camp in July and August, the team announced yesterday.

White fractured the fifth metatarsal in his left foot May 21 during the team’s first organized team activity.

He had surgery two days later at Morristown Memorial Hospital.

White had injury issues at Western Michigan, missing time with multiple ACL tears. As a senior, White led the nation with 140 catches and 1,911 yards.

* The Jets signed third-round pick Demario Davis. The linebacker received a four-year deal worth slightly less than $2.9 million, according to a source.

* Senior VP of programming and media production Bob Parente is stepping down, but will stay with the team in a consultant’s role. Parente, the longest-tenured executive with the team, oversaw the team’s business operations after executive vice president Matt Higgins quit in January until team president Neil Glat was hired in April.
