LOWDOWN: Nicole H was the 8-5 favorite carrying highweight of 124 pounds in the My Juliet at Parx, dueled through the stretch and finished fourth, beaten less than a length. She drops six pounds here and is re-united with Ramon Dominguez, who has won four times and missed by a neck the last five times he rode her.

CALIFORNIAN

Hollywood Park, eighth race. Grade 2. Purse: $150,000. 1¹/₈ miles, 3-year-olds and up. Post: 7:40 p.m.

LOWDOWN: Game On Dude was arguably the top older male horse in America last year with victories in the Santa Anita Handicap and Goodwood and a strong second in the Breeders’ Cup Classic. He also missed in the Hollywood Gold Cup by a nose, his only start over this track. This marks his first start since an unsuccessful run in the Dubai World Cup. Works indicate he’s ready.

MINT JULEP

Churchill Downs, eighth race. Grade 3. Purse: $100,000. 1 1/16 miles, turf, fillies and mares. Post: 9:39 p.m.

LOWDOWN: The 5-year-old mare Tapitsfly is in the best form of her career since winning the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies as a 2-year-old. Two starts back, she was beaten 1 ½ lengths in the Grade 1 Jenny Wiley at Keeneland, and last out she lost by a length in the Grade 2 Distaff Turf Mile over this course on Derby Day.

LAST WEEK: At Belmont, Aqsaam (9-2) was fifth in the Sheepshead Bay; at Monmouth, Pants On Fire won the Skip Away paying $2.80, $2.20, $2.10; at Hollywood, Mr. Commons (3-5) was second in the American Handicap paying $2.40 to place, $2.10 to show.
