Woman dead after Hamilton Heights car crash

A woman was killed and two infants injured in a terrifying, two-car collision in upper Manhattan this afternoon, police said.

A van and car collided on Broadway and West 135th Street at 2:15 p.m., sending both vehicles spinning into the sidewalk, cops said.

The female passenger in a Ford Focus was pronounced dead at St. Luke’s Hospital. Her cousin was the driver and mother of two infants passengers, according to law enforcement sources.

The Focus driver and her kids were taken to St. Luke’s with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Ford E250 van was not hurt, but cops busted him for allegedly driving with a suspended license, police said. He’s not expected to be charged in connection to the crash, law enforcement sources said.

“I heard a bang,” said mailman Clairmonte Coppin, 41. “I ran over, and me and a few guys tried to push the vehicle back.”

The van crushed the car into the window of a pharmacy, pinning its passengers inside, witnesses said.

“I thought it was going to go through the pharmacy,” said Anna Polanco, 22.

“It was a big bang, and then there was glass from the red car exploding from the impact.”

Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
