WATCH: Triathlon winner celebrates early, relies on pity to win race

A premature celebration can be embarrassing, too — just ask Jérémy Jurkiewicz.

Jurkiewicz was cruising to a victory in a half-ironman marathon in Brazil this past weekend when he started celebrating with fans and raising his hands in victory. The one problem was that he had not crossed the finish line. Fellow competitor Igor Amorelli saw this as he turned the corner and took off in a full sprint.

Luckily for the Frenchman Jurkiewicz, he realized the potential catastrophe that was about to occur and desperately tried to jump in front of the streaking Amoreill. The runner-up took pity on Jurkiewicz and yielded to his plea.
