Rouhani snubbed Obama on grub, too

After telling President Obama there wasn’t enough time to arrange even a handshake, Iran’s president hosted a buffet reception for about 20 people.

They dined Tuesday night on basmati and saffron rice, lentils, fruit and an Iranian stew called fesenjoon, said one of the guests, celebrity interviewer Alain Bin Naim.

No wine was served — which was Rouhani’s excuse for not attending Obama’s luncheon on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Rouhani downplayed the snub at a breakfast with media leaders.

“The handshake is a symbolic issue,” he said.

Rouhani repeated the denunciation of the Holocaust that he made to CNN on Tuesday. “There is no way to ignore Nazi crimes against Jews,” Rouhani said.
