She can’t help herself — she’s an actress!
Reese Witherspoon says she was inadvertently channeling her “Legally Blonde” character, Elle Woods, when she sassed an Atlanta cop who arrested her husband, Jim Toth, on a drunk-driving charge last month.
Her attitude got her arrested for disorderly conduct.
“I played a lawyer in a movie so many times, I think I am a lawyer,” Witherspoon told “Good Morning America” yesterday.
“And, clearly, I’m not a lawyer, because I got arrested.”
Witherspoon initially lied to the cop and said she was pregnant.
Then, in a last-ditch effort, she said, “Do you know my name? You’re about to find out who I am.”
“I saw him arresting my husband and I literally panicked,” she said. “It was just one of those nights.”
She added that both she and her husband had “too many glasses of wine” at dinner.
