HOOPS: RU’s Jordan taking classes

New Rutgers men’s basketball coach Eddie Jordan told ESPN.com he is taking classes in an effort to get his degree after it was reported he had never graduated from Rutgers, despite the school’s claim he had.

“I’m in school taking classes,’’ Jordan told the website. “Rutgers is my school, and I always wanted to finish. I showed that every summer while I was playing and came back and took a class.’’

According to Sports Business Journal, Kevin Durant is leaving Landmark Sports. Reports say he’s expected to sign at Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports.

MLB: Wainwright,Cardinals top Reds

In Cincinnati, Adam Wainwright pitched seven innings for his ninth win, and every Cardinals starter had a hit in a 9-2 victory over the Reds that gave St. Louis a four-game lead in the NL Central, its biggest of the season.

In Los Angeles, pinch runner Skip Schumaker scored on the second wild pitch by Anthony Varvaro in the 10th inning, giving the Dodgers a 2-1 victory over the Braves. Dodgers rookie Yasiel Puig homered for the fourth time in five career games.

Chris Archer pitched seven strong innings and Desmond Jennings’ two-run homer led the Rays to a 2-1 victory over the Orioles.

Diamondbacks right-hander Daniel Hudson, who had Tommy John surgery last July, has re-torn the ligament in his right elbow, and could be facing an additional surgery.
