Mister Softee trucks charge up to $2 more in Midtown than other areas of the city

New Yorkers will take a licking if they buy a Mister Softee in Midtown, where cones from the ice-cream purveyor can cost $2 more than in other neighborhoods.

At eight different locations around Midtown, from 41st Street to 59th Street along Sixth Avenue, cones go for $3 to $4, a Post investigation found.

But in Park Slope and Harlem, the same treats can be had for as little as $2.

Customers bristled at getting the short end of the cone.

“It stinks,” said Vincent Palmieri of Long Island. “But it’s not unexpected because you’re in Midtown. Everything is premium here.”

But one driver explained: “There are higher rents as far as the stores here are concerned. These trucks in Midtown also get tickets every day. Uptown, they don’t get tickets, so they don’t have to pay for those. Here, we get, like three tickets a day.”
