Black Swan, 2010

Today, 6:30 p.m., AMC

Natalie Portman won a Best Actress Oscar for her performance as Nina, the nut job ballet dancer desperate to please her smothering mother (Barbara Hershey) and win the starring role in “Swan Lake.” Problem is that her main competition, Lily (Mila Kunis), is a perfect Black Swan, while Nina is a perfect White Swan. After Lily shows her the sensuous side of life, Nina slowly loses her mind as she competes to win the spot from the company’s artistic director Thomas (Vincent Cassel). A blatantly sexist plot, but interesting nonetheless.

The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer, 1947

Tuesday, 8 p.m., TCM

Cary Grant, at his suave best in this hilarious romp, co-stars with a teenage Shirley Temple as the bobby-soxer, who has a major crush on Grant’s sophisticated playboy artist. When she’s caught posing for him, her judge sister (Myrna Loy) forces them to fake “date” until her crush wanes.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? 2000

Thursday, 7:30 p.m., AMC

Who put the “odd” In “The Odyssey?” Why Joel Coen, of course. His take on Homer’s classic has three chain-gang escapees — smooth operator George Clooney, and dimwitted buddies, Tim Blake Nelson and John Turturro, in 1930’s Mississippi, embarking on a cross-country trip searching for hidden treasure while pursued by a relentless lawman. Holly Hunter has a cute cameo as Clooney’s wife. The soundtrack, produced by T-Bone Burnett, won a Grammy Award as Album of the Year.

What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? 1962

Saurday, 9 p.m., PBS

What happened to Baby? A lot, and much of it is pretty awful. When child stars Baby Jane Hudson (Bette Davis) and her sister Blanche (Joan Crawford) were growing up, Jane ran over Blanche with a car, disabling her for life. Old now and confined to a wheelchair, Blanche is Baby Jane’s prisoner in their creepy Hollywood mansion, while ancient Baby tries to revive her career Norma Desmond-style (Davis sings “I’ve Written a Letter to Daddy”). Brilliant, hilarious and so scary, you won’t believe it. Victor Buono, as the mama’s boy who answers Baby Jane’s ad for a musical collaborator, is pure genius. Davis should have won the Best Actress Oscar, but lost to Anne Bancroft (“The Miracle Worker”).
