Handcuffed suspect escapes cops, dashes into subway

A slippery suspect managed to get away from cops while still handcuffed yesterday, police said.

Lawrence Mason, 52, of Queens was being arrested for crack possession near West 116th Street and Lenox Avenue, and had both hands secured behind his back when he broke free and disappeared into the subway system around 1:05 p.m., Saturday, cops added.

The career-criminal was believed to be headed south on either the No. 2 or No. 3 line, police said. He is 5-foot-6, about 140 pounds, with long, kinky black hair. He was wearing a black baseball cap, tan work boots, a black t-shirt and dark blue jeans.

He has been jailed at least 14 times, mostly for drugs, sources said.
