Looks like Huffington got less dough from sale

Arianna Huffington’s slice of the proceeds when she sold her venture-backed Huffington Post to AOL in February 2011 appears to have been substantially less than originally estimated.

According to documents unearthed by the Smoking Gun website, of the original $315 million purchase price, the 63-year-old businesswoman received approximately $21 million.

And she did not get it all at once. Approximately $3.4 million was deferred as unvested options over the ensuing 20 months.

At the time of the deal, it was estimated that she and partner Ken Lerer were walking away with a combined $80-to-$100 million.

But now it looks like the financial investors grabbed a lot more of the payout than Arianna.
