Police charge suspect in attempted rape on NYU student

A Scarsdale man was busted for the robbery and attempted rape of an NYU student in Soho as she was walking home from a study group, law-enforcement sources said.

Investigators were led to 28-year-old Glenn Williams through a Crime Stoppers tip, and picked him up in Chelsea.

Williams was charged with sexual assault and robbery for the violent, attack at 1:15 a.m. on Oct. 8 on Thompson Street between Spring and Prince streets.

The suspect allegedly grabbed the 20-year-old co-ed from behind, put her in a choke-hold and tried to rape her, cops said.

The brave student managed to fight off the attacker, and he took off with her bag.

The suspect fled but ducked into a building vestibule where surveillance video allegedly showed him taking off his coat and throwing it over the stolen bag to hide it.

Cops released the footage in hopes of generating tips from the public.
