Man hit by bus in Greenpoint

A pedestrian was struck by an MTA bus Wednesday in Greenpoint, authorities said.

The 35 year-old victim ran into traffic on Java Street near Manhattan Avenue around 11:50 a.m. when the B43 bus collided with him, according to the witnesses and authorities.

“He ran out of nowhere and darted in front of a moving bus,” Alex Gardega, 43, a painter who witnessed the accident from his studio said.

“His head hit the windshield. His leg was bleeding.”

The man was taken to Bellevue Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

“The driver was really shook up, he seemed like a nice guy,” Gardega said.
