Prognosis good for Yankees’ Logan after elbow surgery

Boone Logan underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left elbow Thursday.

The procedure was performed by Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, Fla.

Logan is expected to resume throwing in December. The 29-year-old lefty, who had been bothered by a sore left elbow since spring training, will be a free agent this offseason.

Logan pitched effectively for most of the season, but was shut down after experiencing more soreness on Sept. 6, when he surrendered a grand slam to Mike Napoli in a loss to the Red Sox in The Bronx.

Despite the injury, Logan figures to be one of the most sought-after southpaw relievers on the market.
