‘Drunk’ cop kills man on AM coffee run

A boozed up off-duty police officer driving an SUV killed a Saint George Ferry Terminal dock worker this morning, law enforcement sources said.

The 51-year-old victim was on Simonson Avenue and Richmond Terrace around 6:20 a.m. getting a cup of coffee when he was struck, according to the sources.

That’s when the officer struck him with his 2010 Ford Escape sending the victim flying in the air before he crashed down on the windshield, the sources added.

The officer then fled the scene but returned 30 minutes later. He blew a .07 on a breathalyzer test at the scene where he was taken into custody, the sources said.

The victim was rushed to Richmond University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

The 29 year-old police officer who works at the 121 precinct has been on the job for eight years.
