Robinson signs two-year deal with Nuggets

The Nuggets just quickened an already speedy backcourt by bringing in Nate Robinson.

The former Knicks point guard agreed to a two-year deal yesterday, a person familiar with the negotiations said.

Robinson joins Ty Lawson to give the Nuggets a tandem that can fly up and down the floor. The addition of Robinson also creates a backlog in the backcourt, with the Nuggets already having up-and-comer Evan Fournier, veteran Andre Miller, rookie Erick Green and newly acquired Randy Foye.

The 5-foot-9 Robinson averaged 13 points per game for the Bulls last season. He stepped up his game in the postseason, scoring 34 points in a triple-overtime win over the Nets in Game 4 of a seven-game first-round series win.

Soon after reaching his decision, Robinson wrote on his Twitter account that it was a difficult decision to leave the Bulls: “I know the nba is a Business but when u build friendships with guys on the team it’s hard to say goodbye … Thanks again chitown one love.”

Robinson will be reunited with some familiar faces on the court in the Mile High City. He suited up with Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari when they played for the Knicks.

FREE AGENTS: The Clippers signed 7-foot center Byron Mullens, who averaged a career-high 10.6 points and 6.4 rebounds last season with the Bobcats.

The Raptors signed D.J. Augustin, formerly of the Pacers, to a one-year deal so he can back up starting point guard Kyle Lowry.

The Jazz signed free-agent guard John Lucas III, who played last season with the Raptors.

MAVERICKS: Dallas hired Rockets executive Gersson Rosas as general manager. Owner Mark Cuban said in a radio interview the Mavericks hired the 35-year-old native of Colombia because they “need to get smarter as an organization.”

HEAT: Dwyane Wade’s attorney says the guard has finally reached a financial settlement with his ex-wife, ending their divorce saga. Wade filed for divorce in 2007, and it was granted in 2010.

The settlement was announced three days after ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches sat on a busy Chicago street and said Wade left her homeless and destitute.
