Rampaging elephant attacks, flips car

When elephant takes on a compact car, the elephant is going to come out on top.

That’s the lesson that a car full of visitors to the Kruger National Park in South Africa learned recently, when a rampaging bull charged and flipped their vehicle.

The Dec. 30 battle of nature versus automobile is captured in nearly revealed video.

In the short clip the animal can be seen staring down the small blue hatchback before attacking it.

With surprising quickness, the animal rushes the car and crushes its front before flipping it onto its roof.

Although it can’t be seen in the video, the car was reportedly flipped three times and pushed back more than 130 feet by the animal.

A female passenger was rushed to a local hospital with a gore wound, but has since been released. Amazingly, there were no other reports of injuries.

The video was captured by another visitor to the park, who followed the flipped car down one of the park’s side roads.

One of the passengers in the other car, who wished to remain anonymous, said that his car kept its distance because the animal showed “tell-tale signs of being agitated.”

“The moment that I saw the elephant start to attack their car I knew that there was nothing that we could do to stop it,” he told Barcroft Media, “so I proceeded to drive to the nearest town in the Kruger National Park to get help.”

While looking for help, the witness was able to reach emergency services by phone and direct them to the flipped car.

A representative from the park blamed the attack on the male elephant being in a heightened state of sexual tension, known as musth.

The elephant was put down in the weeks following the attack, sparking outrage on social media.
