Joe Girardi isn’t just giving out pep talks to his baseball team.
The Yankees manager went to visit the Dallas Cowboys in training camp Monday in Oxnard, Calif to deliver a speech, according to ESPN.com.
“Just be the best you can every day,” Girardi said of the message, given on the team’s off day before a two-game series against the red-hot Dodgers.
“That’s what you prepare for. We obviously all strive to win championships, but to me, it’s a day-to-day thing that you have to go through.”
Cowboys receiver and New Jersey native Miles Austin was excited to hear from the skipper of his favorite team.
“That was a great deal, man,” Austin told the website. “I was just glad to meet him. He said some great things to us. I’ve been a Yankee fan since he was there [as a player] and since I was born.”
