Day-care drug den in Bronx

A couple was arrested in The Bronx for allegedly overseeing a large narcotics operation out of their day-care center, officials said.

Johanna Vasquez and her husband Gregorio Hanley, were busted Wednesday when authorities allegedly found cash and drugs worth more than $300,000 at the Fun World Childcare center in Parkchester.

Authorities raided the center, where they said they seized 300 grams of cocaine hidden in a child’s Hot Wheels lunch bag, $20,000 in cash stashed in a kitchen cabinet, more than a kilo of cocaine and 1,000 oxycodone pills.

Cops said they also found a loaded 9 mm pistol at a stash location across the street.

“The scope of the trafficking operation makes it all the more horrifying that it used as cover a fully operational day care center,” said Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan.

The couple, whose day-care operation was actually licensed, was slapped with charges including selling and possessing a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.
