Cops who miss traffic court catch break under Bratton

Cops who miss traffic-court dates are catching a break under new NYPD boss Bill Bratton.

While former Police Commissioner Ray Kelly ordered any officer who blew off traffic court or didn’t bring all the necessary paperwork to be automatically docked three days’ pay, Bratton is allowing precinct commanders to make the call on punishment.

The first case to reach Bratton’s desk involved a Midtown South officer, and the commish promptly kicked it back to the precinct commander.

Kelly’s measure had stemmed from the department’s massive ticket-fixing scandal. In the past, hundreds of traffic tickets issued to friends and family of cops were thrown out when officers missed court.
